Beginner’s riding gear

So, you want to ride a motorcycle, but you don’t know what riding gear to wear with your new scooter? Well, look no further. Motorcycle.Com is ready to help.

Need a new helmet?

…Then you may be interested in the J.D. Power survey that shows Arai and Icon are tops for consumer satisfaction.

For a 13th consecutive year, Arai ranks highest in customer satisfaction, and ties with Icon with a score of 852 on a 1,000-point scale. Arai performs well across all 11 attributes, particularly in fit and comfort and face shield effectiveness of keeping wind out. Icon performs particularly well in color/graphic design. Shoei follows in the rankings with a score of 831 and performs well in ease of replacing the face shield.

Oh, and if you really want to join the “in” crowd, buy your new helmet online.

What to do with a spare $33,000

Buy one of these: the 2012 MV Agusta F4 RR.

It doesn’t look much changed from last year, but under the plastic, it’s a new beast with an ultra-short-stroke 1000cc Inline-4 that MV says will release 201HP.  No top-speed-limiting governors for the Italian chaps at MV. The engine puts at the top of the superbike heap in terms of power.

Supporting the new bike are top-shelf Öhlins suspension components, and forged aluminum wheels.

Everything is top-of-the line on this bike. Sadly, that includes the price.

I’m back

After a tough month of a slammed schedule, I’m finally getting some room to come up for air.
